12th Annual American Indian/Alaska Native Education Summit

"Equity, a voice for all students!"

March 21st & 22nd
Reno, Nevada

The annual American Indian/Alaska Native Education Summit, is hosted annually in partnership with the University of Nevada, Reno’s Cultural Diversity Center, Truckee Meadows Community College, and the Nevada Indian Commission. Planning for the event began in 2007 and continues to bring educators from across the state to discuss the state of Indian Education in Nevada. During the Education Summit, the Pesa Namanedu Award is presented to honor individuals who have made significant contributions to Indian education in Nevada.

What to Expect

The conference will be student centered to look at the entire student; including the social factors and wellness of a child. In addition, our discussion will provide how these factors may contribute to low graduation rates and high dropout rates. In light of the theme, students, as well as their parents and families, are encouraged to engage in this year's Summit to participate in this important dialogue. High school students will have the opportunity to attend the youth summit at the same time as the adult section.
