The Nevada Public Health Foundation, in partnership with The Office of Suicide Prevention, invites you to join us for an all-day training on Suicide Prevention and Self Care.Topics include a “Gatekeeper’ State of the State Training that discusses the myths and facts about suicide; as well as how to recognize the warning signs, risks and protective factors of suicide, and how to respond to someone at risk for suicide. Following will be “SafeTALK Connections” a panel discussion with strong community partners aimed at suicide prevention. The next segment includes an introduction to “SafeTALK,” a training which addresses suicide alertness and behavior change by preparing conference attendees to be able to recognize a person with thoughts of suicide and knowing how to effectively connect them to a trained suicide first aid interventionist. Finally, the conference ends with mindfulness of the caregiver in a session to promote emotional well-being while preventing burnout.
The Division of Welfare and Social Services helps to subsidize the cost of this event.
Seeking approval of 6.5 CEUs, including at least 2 hours of Suicide Prevention Training, from the Social Work Licensing Board and others. Cost is $50 Non-refundable fee that includes breakfast and lunch.
