The Nevada Public Health Foundation, with funding provided by the Division of Welfare and Supportive Services (DWSS), developed Supporting Teens Achieving Real-Life Success (STARS) workshops. The workshops provide pregnant and parenting teens with support and help teens deal with the challenges that parenthood presents. Pregnant and/or parenting teens can include females and males.
This six-hour workshop is brought to your organization and includes the following topics:
- Child Abuse
- Birth Control
- Sexually Transmitted Infections
- Child Protective Services
- Fetal Alcohol Syndrome
- Dress for Success
- Continuing Your Education
- Money Management
Additionally, attendees receive a planner, a journal, budgeting tools, a parenting book and cosmetic kit for girls or hygiene kit for boys.
To be eligible for the STARS workshop, the pregnant or parenting teen must be of low income or receiving some type of public assistance, such as:
- Food Stamps
- Foster Care
