Administrator of Aging and Disability Services, Department of Health and Human Services
Dena Schmidt serves as the Administrator of Aging and Disability Services. In late 2017, Ms. Schmidt transferred from serving as the Deputy Director of Programs for the Department of Health and Human Services where she lead the Director’s Office programs, including the Grants Management Unit, IDEA Part C Office, Tribal Liaison Office, Office of Consumer Health Assistance, Office of Minority Health, and Nevada 2-1-1. She also serves as liaison for the Governor’s Council on Developmental Disabilities and assists with program coordination among the five Divisions. Prior to this position she served as the Medicaid Specialist for the Division of Welfare and Supportive Services (DWSS) and formerly served as the Chief of Supportive Services for the Division of Aging and Disability Services (ADSD). Dena has extensive experience in research, policy development and system design relating to public assistance programs. She is a graduate of the University of Nevada, Reno.
